Questions from end-customers/consultants

PeopleCert’s tool vendor accreditation is the only authoritative confirmation that a given software product aligns with ITIL best practices and that its vendor maintains the qualification of people who design, develop, and implement the product for end-customers. By extension, this accreditation provides end-customers and consulting companies with an independent, informed, and professional opinion about ITSM products, helping to reduce risks when selecting tools for implementation.

The list of accredited Tool Vendors is the best source of information available when running a tool selection process. By checking information about accredited Tool Vendors on PeopleCert’s website, end-customers and consulting companies can make more informed decisions, reduce risk, and gain a better understanding of the market.

Other Frequently Asked Questions

The Tool Vendor accreditation level reflects the extent to which its software supports the ITIL framework and contributes to ITIL recognition as a comprehensive body of knowledge. In general, the Tool Vendors with higher accreditation levels implement more ITIL best practices in their software and invest more in maintaining the proper qualification of their software development and IT management personnel. Please find more details in the description of the tiering model.

At present, ATV accreditation doesn’t provide a single indicator of the extent to which vendors or their tools support ITIL4 practices (and we can hardly believe such an indicator would be feasible). However, as a general rule, the higher the accreditation level, the more certified individuals on the vendor’s team, and the greater the number of practices supported by its tool.

Please refer to the description of the software assessment criteria.

To keep up with technological innovations, including AI, the software assessment criteria are revised and updated annually. In the current version, AI is explicitly mentioned in the criteria for the following ITIL practices: Incident Management, Service Request Management, Problem Management, and Knowledge Management.

At present, the software assessment criteria are used internally by tool vendors and assessing organisations. However, we consider the possibility that in the future, these criteria might be shared with the community, and the community could contribute to their evolution.

Please refer to see the tiering model.

This means that PeopleCert and its accredited Tool Vendor assessors are the only organizations in the world legitimate to confirm that a particular software product is ITIL compatible, as ITIL is a trademark owned by PeopleCert.
